Pigs is Pigs by Ellis Parker Butler

Episode Summary

There is nothing like a corporate bureaucracy to raise someone's ire.

Episode Notes

If you believe that corporate bureaucracies are recent invention this again. While you may be frustrated by being transferred from one person to another on the phone, imagine how infuriating it would be if you have to wade through red tape by mail. Add to that a rapidly breeding mammal and you have this fanciful early 20th-century farce.

Please forgive my dreadful Irish accent. The story was actually written in something resembling an accent, so I had to try. While Ellis Parker wrote more than 30 books and hundreds of stories, “Pigs is Pigs” is his best-known work. Writing was more of a hobby for the professional banker and his work, despite his sharp wit, never propelled him to fame.
