The Reluctant Dragon by Kenneth Grahame

Episode Summary

Not all dragons are fire breathing monsters bent on destruction.

Episode Notes

Our next story is so special that I decided to present it to both our children’s and adult audiences. It’s a lovely story within a story about a misunderstood creature who is the last of his kind and the boy who bravely befriended him. It is also one of our longest offerings.

The Reluctant Dragon was one of Scottish writer Kenneth Grahame’s most famous tales. It penned in 1898 as part of a short story collection. Twenty years later he followed up with his 1908 classic, The Wind in the Willows.
