Santa and his friends face the most challenging Christmas in their long history as Santa is kidnapped.
After publishing his hit children’s book, L. Frank Baum set up to create a complex world surrounding the character of Santa Claus and in 1902 he published the book, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. Two years later, he followed up with a darker sequel, "A Kidnapped Santa Claus."
It’s a story of darkness and light as evil demons try to lure children to their dark beliefs by destroying Christmas.
Some have called "A Kidnapped Santa Claus" one of L. Frank Baum’s best works although few modern readers know the tale. The popularity of The Wizard of Oz eclipsed most of his subsequent work.
It has been adapted into a children’s play, an animated film and the concept of kidnapping Santa Claus has been used in a number of mainstream films including Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas.
